The Value of Web Conferences

I participated in a web conference on Saturday, January 28th. Attending this web conference proved to be an extremely valuable experience as it provided a great deal of clarification on some gray areas for this course and the portfolio. First of all, I learned that the Week 5 reflection must be uploaded to TK20. I also received a contact for questions with TK20. It’s such a relief to have an actual person to contact about questions regarding TK20 and my electronic portfolio. I admit that I’ve felt very lost when it comes to TK20 and the requirements for the portfolio. Since it was a small group of students that attended this particular web conference, we had the opportunity to ask a lot of questions to Dr. Abernathy and Dr. Attaway. We even had time to discuss the value of Web 2.0 tools in education and share some of our favorite tools with our classmates. Although my hectic work and personal schedules prevented me from attending other web conferneces live, I was able to listen to quite a few recordings from other web conferences which was almost as beneficial as attending the live session. Many of my questions were asked by classmates so it was valuable to get some clarification straight from the professors. In my opinion, the web conferences made this online class very personal, and I believe they provide a great way to connect with professors and classmates!
